American River College launched its new soccer stadium with a grand opening event Friday, October 28, featuring a crosstown rivalry doubleheader on the schedule.

In the opening match between the ARC and Cosumnes River College (CRC) women, CRC came out on top 2-0. Lauren Azevedo and Averen Calvin both scored for the visiting Hawks. CRC improved to 7-7-5 on the season while the Beavers fell to 4-11-2.

The second match featured the host ARC men's squad battling the visiting Folsom Lake College Falcons. This was a wide-open, fast-paced match, with the Beavers coming out on top 3-1. ARC improved to 9-7-1 on the season while the Falcons moved to 6-6-4. After the match, both squads found themselves locked in a tie for second in the Big 8 Conference with identical 3-3 records.

ARC is honored to be chosen to host the 2017 state championships – the college can't wait to show its new stadium and facilities to squads from throughout California!
