Bio

Coach Mitchell is in year 5 with the Beavers and looks to lead the Defensive Line to another productive year. The Defensive Line has been the anchor of the Defense for the last three seasons and Coach Mitchell plans to continue this tradition at ARC. Mason started his football career at Powerhouse Long Beach Polytechnic High School in Long Beach, Ca. He played all 4 years at Poly earning 1st team honors in the Moore League. He also led 3 championship teams to 2 out of 3 championship victories.

After graduating from Long Beach Poly in 2000 he earned a Football Scholarship to CSU, Sacramento. While playing at Sac State he played Defensive Line for current Beaver Head Coach Jon Osterhout and Defensive Coordinator Lou Baiz. Coach Mitchell was also teammates with current Wide Receiver Coach Mike Johnson. Mason earned his B.S. degree in Social Science in 2005. He pursued his football career and played 2 years of Arena Football for the Stockton Lightning. He started his coaching career at local High School Luther Burbank and assisted their team and staff in gaining playoff berths in the 2011 and 2012 football seasons.

Coach Mitchell is currently furthering his education in a master’s program in Athletic Administration so he can become an athletic director of his own athletic program someday. Coach Mitchell is fortunate to have assisted 30 Defensive linemen move on to the 4 year level on scholarship 3 of which are currently playing in the Pac-12 thus far with 1 in the Mountain West in his 4 year tenure. 4 years in a row he has had defensive linemen gain All American and Defensive League honors which adds to the tone that has been set for the defensive line.

Coach Mitchell believes it is his calling to work with young men and assist in the development of their character and future by harnessing the skill sets they acquire in football by aiding them in becoming the best version of themselves to set them up for life.  Coach Mitchell is honored to have the Opportunity to work with such a great staff and head coach who has been his mentor as well as working with young men who desire to play the game he loves with the same intensity and passion he did.
