The West Valley men's water polo team closed out the final day of the regular season, and exacted a bit of revenge, with an 11-9 win over American River Friday. The 2018 Moe Invitational pitted the Vikings (17-5, 5-0 Coast), the regular season Coast champions, against the Big 8 champion Beavers (15-6-1, 5-1 Big 8), who handed West Valley its only NorCal defeat of 2018 (15-14 on 9/22 at Bakersfield). The Beavers led 7-6 after three periods and the teams were tied 9-9 with two minutes left. Goals from Xavier Domingo at 1:37 and Enrico De Munno at :37 clinched the win for WVC. De Munno paced the Viking stat sheet with five goals, while Domingo and Alexander Bonnet netted three and two scores, respectively. Dylan Woodhouse picked up the win in the cage. The Vikings defeated San Joaquin Delta 12-1 in the Moe nitecap. West Valley now heads to the Coast Conference championship tourney Nov. 2-3 at De Anza.
