HOME OF THE AMERICAN RIVER COLLEGE BEAVERS

Beavers finally put it all together, rout Mission 10 - 0

Matt Gunter (Bella Vista) took it upon himself to help the beleaguered pitching staff by throwing 7 shutout innings, he struck out 8 and did not walk any.  He allowed a single to the leadoff batter and then surrendered just one more hit the rest of the way.  It was by far the best single outing by a Beaver pitcher this year.  Kyle Beardsley (Franklin) and LHP Kyle Grant (Burbank) each threw a hitless inning of relief also.  The Beavers jumped on the board early as sophomore DH Dalton deVries (Oakmont) hit the Beavers first home run since Jason Fletcher (Rosemont) homered against Sierra College on April 16, 2013.  The Beavers went homerless last year.  Sophomore Alex Gaskin (Jesuit) tied a school record with three doubles on the day, while adding a pair of RBI.  SS Cameron Bennett (Rio Linda) and 1B Kirby Broadbent (Oakmont) also added three hits each on the day.  The Beavers tallied a season high 5 doubles on the day plus the home run.  deVries and Broadbent added doubles for the offense.  The Beavers scored 6 times in the third inning, with 5 of the runs coming with 2 outs.  They added another three runs in the 4th to go up 10-0 and the score would remain there the rest of the way.  The Beavers travel to Shasta College in Redding on Wednesday to make-up a rained out game from February 7.  The box score and cumulative season stats are not available at this time.
