American River College scored early and often on Thursday to record their first home victory since February 24th in defeating cross-town rival Sacramento City College 12-1 at Beaver Field.  The win improves the Beavers overall record to 10-7 and moves them to 2-0 in the BIG 8 Conference.  The victory ensures that the Beavers win the regular season series after the Beavers defeated the Panthers 2-1 on Tuesday.  The last time that A.R.C. defeated Sac City twice in a season was in 2007 when the teams split four games, two games apiece.  A.R.C. also did the same in 2002, in which future big leaguers Dallas Braden and Manny Parra were part of the squad.

A.R.C. got on the board in the first inning thanks to a 2 out walk to pitcher Kirby Broadbent (Oakmont) in which ball four got away from the catcher allowing SS Cameron Bennett (Rio Linda) to score from third.  The Beavers scored five times in the 2nd inning, thanks to 6 hits, including a 2 run single by RF Alex Gaskin (Jesuit).  Gaskin's single chased Panther starter Zach Smart from the game as he allowed 6 runs while recording just 4 outs.  A.R.C. scored twice more in the 3rd to up the score to 8-0, thanks to a single by Cameron Bennett which scored 3B Colton Freeman (El Camino) from 2nd and CF Brandon Raposa (Woodcreek) scored all the way from first when the ball was mishandled by Sac City's centerfielder.  With the Beavers up 8-0 in the 5th, A.R.C. tacked on 2 more, the first on a double by Freeman, who later scored on a sac fly by Raposa.  The Beavers added single runs in the 7th and in the 8th.

Freshman RHP Kirby Broadbent had his best outing of the year on the mound, throwing 7 shutout innings, allowing just 4 hits and walking 3.  He was aided by a pair of double play balls, one each in the 3rd and the 4th innings.

A.R.C. and Sac City conclude their season series on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Union Stadium on the campus of Sacramento City College.
