Beavers road roll continues - beat DVC 4 - 3

American River College defeated Diablo Valley College 4-3 on Friday for the teams 6th straight victory on the road.  They have won six of their last eight games.  Freshman Tommy Balmain (Oakmont) pitched a solid 7 innings, allowing 3 runs, two earned while scattering 8 hits.  Freshman Christian Savage (Cosumnes Oaks) threw a scoreless 8th inning and sophomore RHP Mike Marlar (Casa Roble) pitched a three up- three down 9th to pick up his team leading third save of the season.  The Beavers got on top early, scoring a run in the 3rd without a hit, as freshman 1B Kirby Broadbent (Oakmont) walked with the bases loaded.  The Beavers added another run in the 4th thanks to a pair of errors by the Vikings, the second being a potential double play ball by sophomore CF Brandon Raposa (Woodcreek) which was thrown away, allowing 3B Colton Freeman (El Camino) to score.  After the Vikings tied the game in the 5th inning, sophomore LF Jimmy Lunardelli (Oakmont) led off the 6th with a triple to right, his team leading 4th triple of the season.  He later scored on a single by freshman C Matt Elliott (Oakmont) through a drawn in infield.  After DVC tied the game in the 7th the Beavers again answered back with a run in the 8th.  With 2 outs, Matt Elliott stole second after drawing a one out walk.  He was then pinch ran for by freshman Justin Jordan (Folsom).  Sophomore SS Cameron Bennett (Rio Linda) then hit a two-out dribbler to short and beat the throw, allowing Jordan to score from second who hustled the whole way for the go-ahead run.

The Beavers finish non-conference play at 8-7 and begin BIG 8 Conference play next Tuesday the 10th at rival Sacramento City College at 2:30 p.m.
