After dropping the first two games to the 4th ranked Santa Rosa Junior College Bear Cubs, the American River College Beavers faced a daunting task of going up against Santa Rosa's ace Garrett Hill.  The Beavers found a way however, with a little help from Santa Rosa's defense to put up a 3-1 victory in their throwback royal blue uniforms on Saturday.  Freshman LHP Mikey Ramirez (Del Campo) was spectacular for the second straight weekend, limiting the Bear Cubs to one run on six hits over seven innings, while walking just one.  The Beavers got on the board early in the 2nd inning after 3B Austin Call (Oakmont) walked with one out.  After a Bryan Babcock (Antelope) single, CF Brandon Raposa (Woodcreek) hit a chopper to 2nd for what could have been a double play ball.  His hustle allowed him to beat the throw to first, which was wide of the bag for an error which allowed Call to score.  After Santa Rosa tied the score in the 6th, the Beavers took the lead again after a Brandon Raposa one out triple.  After SS Steve Mercado (Antelope) struck out, 2B Cameron Bennett (Rio Linda) hit a chopper to short, but the shortstops throw pulled the Bear Cubs first baseman off the bag for another error and a 2-1 A.R.C. lead.  The Beavers added to the lead in the 8th after 1B Dalton deVries (Oakmont) walked, he was pinch ran for by sophomore James Boitano (Argonaut).  Boitano stole 2nd with two outs and then scored on an Austin Call single to left.  Mike Marlar (Casa Roble) came on in the 9th after LHP Kyle Grant (Burbank) threw a scoreless 8th inning.  Marlar retired the side in order in the 9th to pick up his 7th save of the year, the most by a Beaver pitcher since Jake Hower had 9 in 2005.
