The 2015 American River College Baseball regular season came to a close on Friday with the Beavers winning a wild 14 inning game 9-8 on a walk-off wild pitch.  The first inning started off rough for the Beavers as freshman LHP Mikey Ramirez (Del Campo) struggled through the first, allowing three runs, all after there were two outs and nobody on.  The Beavers came back though, scoring six runs in the top of the first, as the first 6 batters of the game all got base hits.  It was the second straight day that the Beavers recorded 6 hits in a row off of Vikings pitchers.  DVC starter Mike Fowler was replaced after A.R.C. 3B Austin Call (Oakmont) doubled in a pair of runs down the third base line.  Reliever Steve Hantos then hit DH Colton Freeman (El Camino) with a pitch to make it 7 straight Beavers to reach base.  After C Bryan Babcock (Antelope) struck out CF Brandon Raposa (Woodcreek) singled to drive in the 6th run of the inning.  With two outs, SS Cameron Bennett (Rio Linda) singled off of the leg of Hantos but it did not drive in a run, but it was the 8th hit of the inning for the Beavers.  Hantos settled down the Beavers bats however, allowing just 3 hits over the next 6 innings.  The Vikings tacked on a run off of Ramirez in the 4th inning, then threatened again in the 6th, loading the bases with one out.  Freshman Christian Savage (Cosumnes Oaks) came on in relief and struck out the next two batters to end the threat.  Savage could not survive the 7th though as He allowed a leadoff single, then walked the next batter.  DVC C Mark Castellucci then bunted up the third base line and Savage bobbled the ball allowing the bases to be loaded.  He then threw a wild pitch, followed by a two run single to give DVC the lead.  Sophomore Matt Gunter (Bella Vista) came on in relief, his first relief outing of the season to try and salvage the Beavers season.  The Beavers did tie the game up in the 7th when a ball hit by Call was misplayed in left field allowing LF Jimmy Lunardelli (Oakmont) to score and  tie the game at 7 apiece.  With state saves leader Mike Marlar (Casa Roble) on in relief of Gunter, the Vikings were able to score in the top of the 10th inning on a two out single.  The Beavers led off the bottom of the 10th with Austin call getting hit by a pitch, but DH Colton Freeman hit into a double play which made the Beavers hopes look dim.  Sophomore pinch-hitter James Boitano (Argonaut) singled up the middle with two outs to keep their hopes alive.  Freshman Kirby Broadbent (Oakmont) then pinch-hit for Raposa and lined a double down the left field line to score Boitano.  The score remained even until the 14th when Colton Freeman singled through the right side with one out.  He stole second then with two outs and CF Justin Jordan (Folsom) at the plate DVC reliever Andrew Merken uncorked a wild pitch to allow Freeman to move up to third.  With a full count Merken then threw ball four to Jordan and the pitch got away from the DVC catcher allowing Freeman to score the game winning run.

The Beavers finish the season in 4th place and await  the playoff seeds which will be announced on Sunday.
