American River College fell to 12-16 on the season after losing 8-2 to #4 ranked Santa Rosa on Wednesday at Beaver Field.  Santa Rosa jumped on Beavers starter Matt Gunter (Bella Vista) in the first inning after a one out walk was followed up by an RBI double to left to put the Beavers down 1-0 just 3 batters into the game.  Santa Rosa got 2 more off Gunter, who was not sharp today, in the 3rd inning.  With 2 outs and nobody on Santa Rosa got a walk, two singles and a balk to plate two runs.  They added two more in the 4th on a two out single with the bases loaded.  Gunter threw 89 pitches in just 4 innings of work.  LHP Andrew Fuentes (Pioneer) threw a scoreless 5th inning but could not survive the 6th.  After retiring the leadoff batter of the inning he hit the next batter, then allowed a single to right.  He then walked the bases loaded, then walked in a run which saw him get pulled from the game for RHP Kyle Beardsley (Franklin) who walked in a run to the first batter he faced.  Santa Rosa added a run in the 7th after Beardsley retired the first two batters of the inning he allowed a single then a triple down the left field line to put the Bear Cubs up 8-0.

A.R.C. got on the board in the bottom of the 7th after a Steve Mercado (Antelope) single was followed by an Alex Gaskin (Jesuit) double to right.  Gaskin and Mercado both moved up a base when the right fielders throw to second base was fielded by nobody, as both infielders were lined up to relay the ball to the plate.  Pinch hitter Colton Freeman (El Camino) then hit a ground ball to second to score Gaskin from third.

The teams meet up again tomorrow in Santa Rosa at 2:30 p.m.
