The wind was blowing in at about 15-20 mph all day in Modesto but it didn't seem to bother the host Pirates as they shut out the Beavers 6-0 on Thursday.  MJC starter Eddie Machado was efficient, striking out five and allowing just two hits – both to RF Alex Gaskin (Jesuit) – in pitching a complete game shutout at Aiello Field.  A.R.C.'s pitchers were not so efficient, as starter Tommy Balmain (Oakmont) walked five in 3 2/3 innings of work while giving up four hits.  He was charged with 5 earned runs allowed.

The two teams face off for the 4th time this season on Saturday with the Beavers having taken the first two.  The Beavers 2-1 victory on March 3rd was a non-league contest.  The game time for Saturday's game may be moved up to noon.
