All-Big 8 player Gaskin signs with Cal Poly Pomona
Alex Gaskin (Jesuit), the Beavers 2nd-team All-BIG 8 Conference right fielder in 2015 has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play at Cal Poly Pomona in 2016. Pomona finished ranked #3 in the nation in 2015, losing in the semi-final game at the Division II College World Series. Gaskin, who was an all-Metro Volleyball player at Jesuit High led the Beavers in hitting as a freshman in 2014 and led the team in doubles and RBI in 2015, and was 2nd on the team in batting average with a .309 average. He finished with 11 extra base hits and 24 RBI in being named a 2nd-team All-BIG 8 Conference selection. "Alex is one of those success stories where he came here as an un-recruited walk-on who we didn't know anything about", said Head Coach Doug Jumelet. "He didn't have a lot to say, he just went out and performed. And when he got his chance, he didn't let up and he became a very solid presence for us in the middle of the lineup. He got a lot out of his time here, and his work ethic and character are big reasons why. I will always remember Alex as a great member of the Beaver family."
