All-Northern California player and 1st team All-BIG 8 Conference DH Dalton deVries (Oakmont) has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) with Abilene Christian University, a Division 1 school in the Southland Conference in Abilene, Texas it was announced Thursday by Head Coach Doug Jumelet.  deVries will join 3B and fellow Oakmont High graduate Austin Call in Abilene this fall, as Call signed with the Wildcats in May.  deVries had a solid year for the Beavers, leading the team in hitting with a .352 average and 43 hits on the season.  His 22 RBI and 3 triples were both second on the team.  He was a 1st team All-BIG 8 Conference selection and was voted to the All-Northern California team in May.  He was the first player since Andrew Lojewski (Woodland) was named All-American in 2013 to earn a postseason honor. 

"Dalton had a fantastic year", said head coach Doug Jumelet.  "On the field and in the classroom, he really challenged himself to put himself in a position to earn a Division 1 scholarship and the hard work that he put in paid off.  We are really happy for him and his family, and it shows just what a great person of character he is in addition to being a good ballplayer."
