Beavers downed 6-4 at Delta

American River College jumped out to a 4-0 lead against #3 ranked Delta College in Stockton on Friday, but could not hold the lead and lost 6-4.  The Beavers scored twice in the 2nd inning, the first run coming on a Matt Elliott (Oakmont) sacrifice fly to score Kirby Broadbent (Oakmont) who had doubled to lead off the inning.  Freshman LF Matt Hall (Antelope) followed with a double down the left field line to score sophomore SS Mike Hatfield (Del Campo) who had been hit by a pitch and moved to second on Elliott's sac fly.

The Beavers got two more in the 4th as sophomore CF Justin Jordan (Folsom) lined one of his two doubles on the day down the left field line to drive in freshman DH Tyler Swank (Del Campo) and Matt Elliott, both of whom had singled.

Freshman LHP Andrew Wiesenfarth (Rio Americano) cruised through the first three innings, allowing just one hit, but then he struggled through the 4th, allowing three runs, then couldn't get out of the 5th as he allowed three more.  Sophomore RHP Tommy Balmain (Oakmont) came on in relief and threw 3 2/3 innings, allowing just one hit and striking out three.

Delta and A.R.C. will meet on Tuesday at Beaver Field at 2:30 p.m.
