Beavers drop Rubber Match to Sac City 7-3

Beavers drop Rubber Match to Sac City 7-3

Once again a big inning doomed the Beavers to defeat.  This time it was a 6 run 4th inning, highlighted by a grand slam by Sac City 1B Tim Hall that did most of the damage.  Starter Micah Gunter (Valley Christian) was not sharp early, but managed to get out of a couple of jams with little damage.  But in the 4th he hit the leadoff batter, then walked the next two before giving way to reliever Tyler McCombs (Antelope).  McCombs got Hall to pop up behind the plate but C Joaquin Sequeira (Antelope) dropped the ball for an error, giving new life to Hall.  He took advantage of it, taking a 2-2 pitch over the left field fence for a grand slam.  McCombs then walked the next batter but got a double play ball to leave the panthers with two outs and nobody on.  McCombs then gave up a pair of singles, then was pulled for RHP BJ Marshall (Valley Christian).  Marshall threw a wild pitch allowing the runners to be at 2nd & 3rd with two outs, but SS Boston Romero singled to drive in two more runs and finish off the 6 run inning.

Offensively the Beavers could not score until the 8th when SS Jared Biggs (Del campo) lofted a double down the left field line to score 3B Brayden Gomez (Bella Vista) from first.  It was Biggs second double of the day and his 11th of the year.  The Beavers added two more in the 9th when freshman Matt Hall (Antelope) singled to short, then was double in by DH Tyler Swank (Del Campo) who hit a missile in the gap to right center.  Swank later scored on a groundout by freshman Chad Singleton (Sheldon).

The Beavers finish up the regular season with a three game series against Modesto JC starting on Saturday in Modesto.
