The sun finally came back out and it shined on the Beavers this weekend, as the baseball team swept Hartnell College in Salinas for the first time in 7 tries to improve to 7-0 on the season.  The Beavers took the first game 7-3 thanks to a solid starting performance from sophomore RHP Micah Gunter (Valley Christian), who went 6 innings and struck out 5.  Sophomore closer Ian Codina (Oakmont) closed out the game, working two innings and striking out 5 of the 6 batters he faced.  Sophomore DH Alex Dodd (River City) hit the Beavers first home run of the season, a solo shot in the 6th inning to get the team on the board.  The team trailed 3-1 going into the 8thinning but scored 5 times in the 8th to take the lead.

Game 2 saw the Beavers get out to a lead as they scored 4 runs in the 4th inning and never looked back as they took the finale 9-4.  Freshman RF Blake Spencer (Rio Americano) was 2x3 with a 2B and 2 RBI and sophomore LF Edgar Gallardo (Riverside Poly) had a two run single in the 4th inning.  Sophomore LHP Kurt Johnson (Simi Valley Royal) threw five innings, allowing just one run and struck out 5 for his third win of the season.
