American River College couldn't avoid the three game sweep at the hands of top-ranked Delta College, falling 5-1 at home on Saturday.  Sophomore LHP Kurt Johnson (Simi Valley, Royal) pitched well, allowing just two earned runs over 7 innings, but a couple of costly mistakes hurt the Beavers, who did allow three unearned runs.  The Mustangs scored three times in the 5^th inning and twice in the 7^th.  Johnson struck out 5 while walking just two.  Offensively, the Beavers had baserunners but couldn't put much together until the 9^th when CF Cade Parker (Yreka) tripled to lead off the inning, then scored on a balk. 

The Beavers will host Diablo Valley College next week on Tuesday and Saturday, then travel to face the Vikings in Concord on Thursday.
