Beavers drop ball and series to DVC

Poor defense plagued the Beavers throughout its 3 game series with Diablo Valley College and the Beavers dropped game 3 of the series 9-3 on Saturday.  A.R.C. made 6 errors on Saturday, and for the 2nd game in a row made an error on the first pitch of the game, this time a ground ball to short that freshman Will Floyd (Rocklin) misplayed.  He made four errors on the day.  The Beavers made two other errors and allowed three unearned runs on the day.  Offensively, the Beavers couldn't get on the board until the 7th inning despite several opportunities early.  Freshmen Matt Clarke (Bella Vista) and Scotty Henrichs (Granite Bay) led the at the plate with Clarke having a three hit day including a double and Henrichs adding two hits and a walk.  Sophomore 1B Alex Dodd (River City) hit his first triple of the season.

Sophomore LHP Kurt Johnson was not given any help from his defense but he was not sharp either, as he walked 4 and allowed 8 hits over just 4 2/3 innings.  He did strike out 5.

The Beavers move on to play cross-town rival Sacramento City College next week with the Tuesday and Saturday games at Union Stadium on the campus of Sac City and Thursday at home on Beaver Field.
