Beavers drop home game to Folsom Lake

Beavers drop home game to Folsom Lake

While game 1 of the three game series between A.R.C. and Folsom Lake College was one to be remembered, the Beavers would like to forget game 2 ever happened.  Folsom Lake College, in its first ever appearance at Beaver Field scored two runs in the top of the first off of starter Micah Gunter (Valley Christian).  The Beavers rallied back to score three in the bottom of the first though to take the lead.  With one out SS Will Floyd (Rocklin) walked and stole 2nd, then the Beavers strung together four straight hits and an RBI groundout by LF Edgar Gallardo (Riverside Poly) to take the lead.  Folsom tied the game in the 4th on a 2 out passed ball.  They then took the lead in the 6th inning after a leadoff double, but a one out passed ball allowed the go-ahead run to score.  Freshman LHP Chris Martin (Elk Grove) threw a scoreless 7th inning, but Folsom Lake scored 5 times in the 8th, four of the runs unearned to go up 9-3.  The big blow was a bases loaded, one out grounder to third that freshman Sonny Ledford (Rio Americano) pulled up on and allowed the ball to go under his glove, scoring two.  After a strikeout, the next batter tripled, then was brought in by a two out single.  The Beavers did score a pair of runs in the bottom of the 8th, the first on a bases loaded, pinch-hit hit by pitch by sophomore Andrew Fuentes (Pioneer).  RF Justin Bejarano (Elk Grove) later flew out to right which brought in the 5th run for the Beavers.  A.R.C. did rally again in the 9th, getting runners to 2nd & 3rd with two outs, bringing the tying run to the on-deck circle, but no late inning magic was left as CF Cade Parker (Yreka) hit a sharp line-drive right at the shortstop to end the game.

The two teams will face off in the rubber-match on Saturday at Folsom Lake College at 1:00 p.m.
