Fuentes grand slam helps lift Beavers to series win over Folsom Lake

Sophomore DH Andrew Fuentes (Pioneer) hit his first collegiate home run on Saturday, and he made it count.  In the 4th inning Fuentes cleared the bases on a full count pitch over the left center field fence, clearing the tall safety fence for a grand slam to lead the Beavers to a 17-8 victory over Folsom Lake.  The win clinched the series for the Beavers in the teams' first ever meeting, two games to one.  Freshman LF Justin Hanlin (Whitney) also homered, hitting his team leading 4th homer in his first game back after suffering a concussion.  A.R.C. pounded out 17 hits on the day, including a pair of doubles from sophomore C Joaquin Sequeira, while benefitting from 8 FLC walks, 3 hit batters and 7 errors.  Sophomore LHP Kurt Johnson (Simi Valley Royal) began the day feeling sick but competed enough to get through 6 innings and pick up his 4th win of the season.  Johnson had 11, three ball counts on the day but walked just one.

A.R.C. will return to action this week by visiting defending state champion Santa Rosa JC on Tuesday and Saturday while hosting the Bear Cubs at Beaver Field on Thursday.
