Beavers drop game 2 / series to Santa Rosa

Beavers drop game 2 / series to Santa Rosa

It was raining during much of the game on Thursday and Santa Rosa JC rained on the Beavers parade as they used a 4 run first inning to down the Beavers 7-1.  Sophomore Micah Gunter (Valley Christian) got roughed up, allowing 6 runs in just 3 innings of work.  Gunter was able to retire the leadoff batter in the first, but the next 5 batters recorded two doubles, two triples and a single to tally four runs in the inning.  The Bear Cubs added an unearned run in the 2nd and a solo home run in the 3rd inning to chase Gunter from the game.  Freshman RHP Greysen Pulsipher (Cosumnes Oaks) threw three scoreless innings of relief to keep the Beavers in the game.   Sophomore RHP Craig Broadman (Arcata) threw two innings, allowing one run and freshman Chris Martin (Elk Grove) had his second strong showing against the defending state champs, throwing a scoreless 9th inning after pitching two scoreless on Tuesday .

Offensively the Beavers didn't get their first hit until the 6th inning when freshman RF Blake Spencer (Rio Americano) doubled down the left field line.  A.R.C. was held scoreless until the 8th when Spencer singled with two outs for his second hit of the game.  After a wild pitch he was balked to third, then scored on freshman 2B Matt Clarke's (Bella Vista) single up the middle.

The two teams will try to finish the series in Santa Rosa on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. if the weather allows.
