Beavers drop game 1 to Cosumnes River 8-3

Beavers drop game 1 to Cosumnes River 8-3

The American River College baseball team could not take advantage of several early miscues by the Hawks, and the Beavers fell 8-3 in the series opener.  The Beavers also made several defensive miscues, committing four errors leading to four unearned runs.  Starter Andrew Wiesenfarth (Rio Americano) struggled but competed despite the shaky defense to give the Beavers 6 innings in his last start for A.R.C.  Sophomore C Joaquin Sequeira (Antelope) led the way with three hits and an RBI single on the day.  Freshman 2B Scotty Henrichs (Granite Bay) had a pair of hits including a double as well.  The Beavers had a chance to make a comeback in the 9th inning as they loaded the bases with power hitting LF Justin Hanlin (Whitney) on deck, but CF Cade Parker (Yreka) hit a sharp line drive right at the CRC second baseman who then was able to double up 1B Alex Dodd (River City) who had singled in the previous at-bat off of first to end the game.

The Beavers and Hawks end the regular season with a game at CRC on Thursday at 2:30, then at Beaver Field for the season finale on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
