American River College Baseball teammates Alex Dodd (River City) and Joaquin Sequeira (Antelope) have both accepted scholarships and signed National Letters of Intent (NLI) to play at Embry-Riddle University in Daytona Beach, Florida next season.  Sequeira, the Beavers catcher had two solid seasons at A.R.C.  He hit .279 this year with a team leading 10 doubles and 18 RBI.  He only struck out 11 times in 140 plate appearances.  Dodd hit .301 and had 10 extra base hits, including 2 home runs while driving in 29, playing mostly first base.  Embry-Riddle was a traditional NAIA powerhouse, a regular in the NAIA World Series but has moved up to the NCAA Division 2 level.  They are not the first American River College baseball players to go from Sacramento out to the Florida campus.  After the 2000 season in which the Beavers made it to the Final Four, OF Regan Hagestad went to Embry-Riddle where he was an NAIA All-American and earned the MR. Hustle Award at the NAIA World Series. 

"I am really proud of these guys for the work they have put in and now they have the opportunity to continue playing together at the next level.  They were like best friends on the team and it is pretty special that they will be able to keep that bond going as members of the Embry-Riddle program.  It is a top-notch four-year school with great coaches who will take care of them along the way," said Head Coach Doug Jumelet.  "It shows that when given the opportunity, through hard work and desire, these type of goals are achievable."
