The American River College baseball team had 15 of 29 players earn a 3.0 grade point average or higher in at least 9 academic units this past fall, Head Coach Doug Jumelet announced. "The guys did a great job really understanding how committed we are to their success in the classroom as well as on the field." With the work that we do with them, the outstanding work that Diana, Olga, and the Dusty Baker Center provide, and with new Student-Athlete Success Center, it has really helped our players. We had several guys who were not really near a 3.0 before get well above that this semester, and that is a testament to everyone pulling together to make sure that the academic side of things are emphasized", said Jumelet.
In addition to those that earned a 3.0 this semester, 10 of the 29 have a cumulative 3.0 in at least two semesters at A.R.C.
Two players, freshmen Ray Henry (Colfax) and Nick Perry (Rio Linda) earned a 4.0 this fall.
