Beavers' bats still cold in loss to Mission
American River College still could not find the key to getting the offense going, only scoring one run on 5 hits on Tuesday in a 9-1 loss at Mission College on Tuesday. Freshman LHP Sean Miller (Granite Bay) took the loss in his first collegiate start, allowing 4 runs over 4 innings of work. Freshman RHP Austin Jacobs (River City) had a promising start to his college debut, retiring the first two batters he faced, but then he walked a pair, committed an error covering first, threw a wild pitch to score a run, then allowed a single to plate two more. The Beavers lone run came when sophomore 2B Matt Clarke (Bella Vista) reached 2nd on a throwing error, then advanced to 3rd on an errant pick-off attempt. Freshman DH Logan Hall (Oakdale) then flew out to left deep enough to score Clarke. It was Hall's first RBI of the year. Clarke later added a double but did not come around to score.
The Beavers return home to play Shasta College on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Beaver Field.
