Beavers drop rubber match to Butte

Beavers drop rubber match to Butte

American River College had a chance to take the season series from Butte College in Oroville on Saturday but came up a bit short, dropping game three 10-6.  Freshman RHP Collin Carriger (Bella Vista) had a bit of a rough outing, giving up 3 runs in the first inning and six through 4 innings.  Freshman RHP Nick Perry (Rio Linda) also suffered through a rough patch in the 6th inning.  After striking out the first two batters on 6 pitches, he walked the next batter, then a ground ball came up on SS Matt Clarke (Bella Vista) for an error to put runners at 2nd and 3rd.  Perry then walked the next batter to load the bases, then an errant pickoff attempt allowed the runner from third to score.  Perry ended up walking the next batter to load the bases.  On a 2-2 pitch he appeared to strike out the batter to end the threat but it was called a ball and the Butte batter doubled down the left field line to plate 3 runners to take the score to 10-3.  The Beavers fought back in the 8th as sophomore 3B Will Floyd (Rocklin) cleared the bases with a double to drive in three to bring A.R.C. to within four.  They would get no further however.  Floyd ended the day 3x5 with a double and 3 RBI.  The Beavers travel to Fairfield on Tuesday to take on the Solano College Falcons.
