Beavers take Friday game against Solano 5-4

Beavers take Friday game against Solano 5-4

In their last tune-up before BIG 8 Conference play begins next week the American River College Baseball team was a bit sloppy in the cold conditions but came out on top 5-4 over Solano College to even their season series.  The Beavers got on the board first, scoring in the bottom of the 2nd as sophomore RF Justin Bejarano (Elk Grove) hit a two out ground ball to short that went right through the wickets into left field to score sophomore 3B Will Floyd (Rocklin), who had walked and stolen second.  Solano was able to score twice in the top of the 3rd off of freshman starter Hayden Josephson (Granite Bay), with the 2nd run scoring on a dropped fly ball by sophomore LF Ryan Burdick (Wheatland).  A.R.C. would answer back and tie the game in the 3rd inning after freshman 1B Lane Field (Whitney) singled to lead off the inning for his 5th consecutive hit dating back to Tuesday's 3x3 day.  He then stole 2nd, advanced to 3rd on a fly ball to right by Burdick, then scored on a wild pitch that didn't get very far away from the catcher.  Solano got the lead back in the 5th thanks to an error by SS Matt Clarke (Bella Vista).  The Beavers then took back the lead in the bottom of the 5th after Field reached 2nd to lead off the inning via throwing error.  Matt Clarke then singled advancing Field to third and freshman DH Logan Hall (Oakdale) then knocked in Field with a single to left.  Hall would later score on a single to left by Floyd to put the Beavers up 4-3. Solano tied the game up in the 7th but the Beavers answered again, after freshman Casey DeMello (Valley Christian) doubled to right with two outs for his first collegiate hit.  Justin Bejarano then  singled into left center to score DeMello to give the Beavers the lead.  After Josephson worked out of jam in the 8th, sophomore Freddy May (Folsom) came on to close the game out in the 9th with a strike 'em out, throw 'em out double play to record his first career save.

A.R.C. begins BIG 8 Conference play on Tuesday as the travel across town to play Cosumnes River College at Jerry Conway Field at 2:30 p.m.
