Beavers suffer another rough Tuesday, drop game 1 to Sierra

Beavers suffer another rough Tuesday, drop game 1 to Sierra

Tuesdays BIG 8 Conference game between American River College and Sierra College started off as most games do.  A couple of runs, back and forth- tied 2-2 after three innings.  It fell apart from there.  Sierra scored 5 runs in the 4th inning, then 7 in the 5th to blow the game open.  The Wolverines added a run in the 7th and 6 more in the 8th to cruise to a 21-2 victory.  The Beavers only walked four but allowed 19 hits and threw 8 wild pitches in allowing 20+ runs for the second time this season.  The last time the team allowed 20 runs was in the year 2000.  Offensively the Beavers were only retired in order in the top of the 6th inning and got at least one runner into scoring position in 5 separate innings, but only scored in the 3rd inning, once on a wild pitch and the other as LF Ray Henry (Colfax) lined a single to left center to score 1B Lane Field (Whitney).  Field had a pair of hits on the day as well as a hit by pitch.  Ray henry also added a pair of singles, one of them at the end of a 12 pitch at-bat.

The two teams will meet again on Thursday at Beaver Field at 2:30 p.m.
