American River College once again struggled with the first game of the week, this time dropping a 16-6 contest to Modesto JC at Beaver Field.  LHP Sean Miller (Granite Bay) fell to 0-5 on the year but he did not get much help as the Beavers made four errors in the first two innings, leading to three unearned runs.  For the second straight week Beaver pitchers threw 8 wild pitches in the first game of the week.  Offensively A.R.C. didn't really get going until the game was out of hand as they only had two hits through the first 5 innings.  SS Will Floyd (Rocklin) had a pair of hits on the day, and DH Ray Henry (Colfax) added a pair of hits and two RBI.  2B Christian Murua (Grant) also added a two run single in the 7^th inning.  Sophomore C Oscar Holmberg (Sweden) got his first career hit in the 8^th inning and threw out a runner stealing in the top of the 9^th.  A.R.C. and Modesto are scheduled to play again on Thursday in Modesto.
