Beavers beat the rain, but can't beat Modesto

Despite rain in much of the Sacramento area the past couple of days, American River College and Modesto JC were able to get their game in Friday at Beaver Field with MJC prevailing 5-0.  It was the second time this season that the Beavers have been shut out.  One day after Modesto made 5 errors on ground balls the Beavers managed just 2 ground outs all day, both in the first inning.  The Beavers managed just 5 hits by 5 different players.  5 different players had two strikeouts on the day.  Freshman RHP Hayden Josephson (Granite Bay) was not sharp as he was touched for 11 hits in 7 innings- 6 for extra bases- but he battled and only allowed runners to score in two of the innings that he pitched.  Freshman RHP Austin Jacobs (River City) threw two scoreless innings and striking out two.

A.R.C moves on to play 2017 State runner-up Santa Rosa JC on Tuesday at Beaver Field at 2:30 p.m.
