Beavers swept by Santa Rosa

Beavers swept by Santa Rosa

After playing two close games against the defending BIG 8 Conference champions, including an extra inning game yesterday, the Santa Rosa JC Bear Cubs made sure that the third game was never in jeopardy, beating the Beavers 16-1 at Beaver Field on Friday.  Santa Rosa touched up Beavers ace Hayden Josephson (Granite Bay) right from the get-go as the leadoff batter for Santa Rosa homered over the center field fence on a 3-2 pitch.  Josephson got out of the first inning but gave up 5 runs in the 2nd inning, all with two outs.  Santa Rosa scored 6 more in the 3rd inning off of Josephson and reliever Shawn Roberts (Del Campo).  A.R.C. had some chances to score early, they had a runner at 3rd with one out in the 1st and got a leadoff double from RF Justin Bejarano (Elk Grove), but could not plate either runner.  The Beavers would end the shutout bid in the 7th inning after SS Matt Clarke (Bella Vista) reached on an error, then was moved to third on a double by LF Ray Henry (Colfax), his second hit of the day.  3B Will Floyd (Rocklin) grounded out to score Clarke for the Beavers only run of the game.

The Beavers enter Spring Break with a three game series against Folsom Lake College beginning on Tuesday at Beaver Field at 2:30 p.m.
