HOME OF THE AMERICAN RIVER COLLEGE BEAVERS

Beavers can't get sweep, fall 6-2 at DVC

For the second week in a row the American River College baseball team was going for the series sweep after taking the first two games, but also for the second week in a row they came up short.  Host Diablo Valley College jumped on A.R.C. starter Hayden Josephson (Granite Bay) early, pounding out 10 hits over four innings and scoring five.   The Beavers bullpen would step up and do their job however, allowing just one run over the next four innings.  Freshman Chris Nam (Kalani, HI; pictured) threw three innings, the first two innings a perfect six up, six down.  Freshman Austin Jacobs (River City) then worked a perfect 8th inning.

At the plate the Beavers couldn't get much going despite swinging the bats well.  There were lots of balls hit right at DVC defenders and the Vikings made some good plays as well.  Sophomore RF Justin Bejarano (Elk Grove) had an RBI double off of the right field fence and Sophomore Justin Hanlin (Whitney) tripled off of the left center fence to drive in the Beavers other run.  3B Will Floyd (Rocklin) doubled off of the left field fence and SS Matt Clarke (Bella Vista) laced a double down the right field line.

The Beavers finish off their 2018 BIG 8 Conference slate with a three game series beginning on Tueday against #1 ranked Delta College in Stockton.
