Beavers drop game 1 to Delta 10-6

Entering Tuesday's game the American River College Baseball team surely looked like the underdog, as Delta is ranked #1 in Northern California and in first place in the BIG 8 Conference.  The Beavers held their own however, out-hitting the Mustangs 13-9 but getting out-scored 10-6.  The Beavers had several opportunities to take over the game but could not get the big hit.  A.R.C. trailed 8-6 with two outs in the bottom of the 9th, but a pair of walks, a pair of wild pitches and one single allowed Delta to score twice and put the game out of reach at 10-6.  Freshman LHP Sean Miller (Granite Bay) started for the Beavers and had an up and down game.  He allowed three runs in the bottom of the 1st, but had 1-2-3 innings in the 2nd and 4th innings, but allowed two runs each in the 5th and 6th innings.  At the plate 2B Christian Murua (Grant) and CF Logan Hall (Oakdale, pictured) led the way with three hits and an RBI each.  SS Matt Clarke (Bella Vista) had a pair of hits and LF Ray Henry (Colfax) tripled in a run in the top of the 1st inning.  RF Justin Bejarano (Elk Grove) also doubled in a run.

The two teams will meet at Beaver Field on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
