BEAVERS BEGIN BIG 8 PLAY WITH WIN OVER DVC           

American River College got their first BIG 8 Conference win of the 2024 season with an 8-3 triumph over Diablo Valley College in Concord on Tuesday.  Sophomore RHP Tyler Moore (Del Campo) made his first start of the season and threw 5 innings, allowing a pair of runs while striking out 7 on just 3 hits.  The Beavers got going early, scoring in the top of the first thanks to an RBI single by sophomore RF Wyatt Bahlke (Woodcreek).  The Beavers added a pair of runs in the top of the 5^th thanks to a two-out, two-run single by sophomore C Duncan Hansen (Del Campo).  Moore allowed a pair of runs with two outs in the bottom of the 5^th and the Vikings tied the game with a run off of freshman RHP Joey Guarienti (Vista del Lago).  Guarienti slammed the door from there though, allowing just one more hit, in the top of the 9^th while striking out 6 of his own.  A.R.C. took the lead back for good in the 7^th, posting three runs, with sophomore SS Darin Eales (Bear Creek) doing much of the damage with a based loaded double to drive in a pair.  Sophomore LF Marcus Babauta (St. Mary’s) added a sacrifice fly and the Beavers scored twice in the top of the 9^th to put the game away. 

The two teams are scheduled to meet on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Beaver Field but there is a chance that the game will get moved up a couple of hours to beat the rain which is predicted to come in Thursday afternoon.
