BEAVERS DROP SERIES TO FOLSOM LAKE

In a recurring theme so far in the 2024 season, the American River College baseball team lost a low scoring game with Folsom Lake College 4-1 on Thursday at Beaver Field.  Starting pitcher Anthony Ocanas (Woodland) had another stellar outing, holding the Falcons to 3 runs, 1 earned in 7 innings of work.  Freshman RHP Jose Vega (Highlands) cam on in relief and allowed a run in the 8^th but worked out of a runners on 2^nd and 3^rd- 0 out jam by striking out a pair and getting an infield pop-up to end the inning.  The Beavers offense was held in check most of the game.  The first inning was promising as lead-off hitter Brett Griffiths (Jesuit) doubled to open the bottom of the first.  Freshman DH Nick Golden (El Camino) laced a shot down the third base line but Folsom Lake’s third baseman was hugging the line to make the catch.  SS Darin Eales (Bear Creek) then singled to right but it was hit too hard to score Griffiths from 2^nd.  Sophomore RF Wyatt Bahlke (Wookcreek) then came up and drilled a shot towards right field but right at the first baseman who was able to double off Eales and end the inning.  The Beavers remained scoreless until the 7^th inning when Bahlke doubled in Eales from first. As Eales had reached on a fielders choice.

A.R.C. dropped game 1 of the series to Folsom Lake on Tuesday.  The two teams will finish up the series on Friday at 1:00 at Folsom Lake College.
