Beavers Comeback, Eales Home Run Not Enough As Beavers Drop Game 1 To Sierra

BEAVERS COMEBACK , EALES HOME RUN NOT ENOUGH AS BEAVERS DROP GAME 1 TO SIERRA

American River College took a 2-1 lead into the 6th inning but it evaporated quickly as Sierra College scored three in the 6th and three in the 7th innings to go up 7-2 at Beaver Field on Tuesday.  A.R.C. proved up to the task however as sophomore SS Darin Eales (Bear Creek) drove his team leading 4th home run over the left field fence with one out in the 7th.  It was the first home run hit at Beaver Field this season.  After Eales, RF Wyatt Bahlke (Woodcreek) singled for his third hit of the day.  2B Jayden Reynolds (Bella Vista), C Duncan Hansen (Del Campo), CF Wyatt Winalski (San Juan), and 1B Willie Tatum (Grant) all followed with singles to bring the Beavers back within two.  After sophomore LF Marcus Babauta (St. Mary’s) struck out, sophomore 3B Brett Griffiths (Jesuit) singled in two runs to tie the game.  The deadlock was short-lived however as Sierra scored a run off of freshman reliever Jose Vega (Highlands) in the 8th and in the 9th to put the game away for the Wolverines.

The two teams will meet in Rocklin on Thursday at 2:00 and then back at Beaver Field on Friday for a 1:00 p.m. start.  Friday’s game was originally scheduled for 2:00 p.m. but has been moved up to 1:00 p.m.
