2007-08 Player Awards

Coach Haflich announced three ARC players were named to the 2007 All State Region I and All Northern California teams:

Shane Scott

Shane Scott, a Del Campo High School product, was a two-year starter at defensive back for ARC.  In 2007, Scott was the third leading tackler on the team, intercepted five passes and blocked a field goal.  He was named to the All Mid-Empire Conference

“Shane is a young man who was a very positive leader on our football team. He was a play maker for our football team, leading our football team in take-aways,” said Coach Haflich.  “Shane is soft spoken, but his teammates have great respect for him.  He is a team player and took on the challenge of leading our secondary and a young defensive group.  He did a tremendous job.”

Brad Langley

Punter Brad Langley, out of Woodcreek High School, had over 20 of his 50 punts this season downed inside the five-yard line.  His longest punt of the year was 71 yards.  Langley, and all conference first team selection, was also named the ARC Special Teams Player of the Year.

“Brad is the hardest working “specialist” that I have ever been associated with,” said Coach Haflich.  “Brad works daily at this trade.  He has to be his own coach throughout the practice outside of special team time.  He has worked very diligently for the success he has experienced.  Brad is a quality young man on and off the field of competition.”

Charles Ryan

Charles Ryan, an offensive lineman out of Casa Robles High School, was a two-year starter on the offensive line at ARC.  This season he recorded 29 pancake blocks, 32 drive blocks of five yards or more, and allowed only two sacks, none in leag-ue play.  Because of injuries along the line and Ryan’s efficient play, the Beavers were forced to run behind Ryan over 75% of the time this fall.  For his outstanding performance all season, Ryan was honored with the Eric Corcoran Award for outstanding commitment to ARC Football.

“Charles is the ultimate team player,” remarked Coach Haflich.  “After a couple of injuries in the O-Line during fall camp, Charles made the choice to give up his starting D-End position and return to the O-Line for another season. Charles was the force that was needed in the ARC offensive line.”

Additionally, two players were selected for the All Northern California team:

Brad Walker

Another Woodcreek grad, tight end Brad Walker played eight games at the position this season, hauling in 23 catches and averaging 13.9 yards per reception.  Six of his receptions went for touchdowns.  His longest catch of the year was for 67 yards.  His impressive performance in only eight games earned him the team’s Offensive Player of the Year award.

“Brad is a young man who was a leader and a starter on our football team for two years. He was not only a play maker with his pass catching ability, but was a total player though his ability to block opposing defenders in a dominating fashion,” said Coach Haflich.  “He is soft spoken, but his teammates respect him for his tremendous work ethic and discipline. Brad is a team player. Brad missed two games with a knee injury, but upon his return, he continued his dominating style of play.”

Chris Brown

Chris Brown, an outside linebacker out of Foothill High School, was the second leading tackler on the team.  In just nine games he stacked up 44 solo tackles, 17 assisted tackles, and 10 tackles for loss for a total of 71 tackles on the season.  Brown also had five QB Sacks, and forced 10 QB Hurries.  He forced a fumble, recovered a fumble, and blocked a field goal.

“Chris was a mainstay on our defense in 2007,” said Coach Haflich.  “Chris played through injury week after week.  Chris was the emotional leader on our football team.  He rallied the troops during the tough times.”
