ARC vs Delta

September 25, 2010

This was a game where points after turnovers created the result. The first half was a showcase for Delta College football. After ARC took the opening kickoff across midfield, the Mustangs recovered a Beavers fumble and marched downfield for an Adam Kennedy to Depray Celestine 23 yard TD and an early 7-0 lead. On the next possession, Mustangs Marc Porras intercepted Beavers QB James Lee, but Mustangs could not put points on the board. ARC then accomplished a long drive for a tying TD and it was 7-7 with 13:11 left in the 2nd. Mustangs Gerome Surrell then took the kickoff almost all the way back, and soon after, Kennedy ran 9 yards for a go ahead TD and it was 14-7. Then at the five minute mark, Mustangs pinned the Beavers deep with a coffin corner punt and eventually took over on the Beavers 29 --a short drive into the end zone had the Mustangs walking off at halftime with a comfortable 21-7 lead. But the whole game turned on the 2nd half opening kickoff, which Delta incredibly allowed ARC to recover on the 6 yard line --a FG made the score 21-10. On Delta's next possession, 2 Beavers got into the Mustangs punter for a block, and with 5:04 left in the 3rd, ARC scored on a 6 yard pass to Collins from Lee and it was 21-17. And a 9:24 of the 4th, ARC returned an INT to the Delta 4 yard line, and a few minutes later were in the end zone with a go ahead TD --24-21. Despite some amazing late game heroics by Adam Kennedy, ARC held off the Mustangs and walked off the field with a hard earned victory.
