Football Opens 2023 Season with Victory Over Rival Sac City

The American River College Football program open the 2023 season with a 19-7 victory over cross-town rival Sacramento City College on Saturday, September 2nd.

The Beavers were on the scoreboard just a couple minutes into the game after Kenneth Lueth connected on a 36 yard touchdown pass to Mikaiah Stephenson.  The Beavers would extend their lead in the second quarter to 10-0 when Andres Preito knocked in a 40 yard field goal after a 10 play 30 yard drive.  

Running Back Elias Brown would add another touchdown for the Beavers after a 1 yard run to extend the lead to 17-0.  The Beavers special teams would get in on the fun after forcing a safety when Sac City's long snapper sent the ball over the punter's head and into the endzone, giving the Beavers a 19-0 lead going into the 4th quarter.

Sac City would score a late touchdown to make the score 19-7, but the Beaver defense was dominant throughout.  Holding Sac City to only 95 total yards and -11 yards rushing.  

The Beavers move to 1-0 on the season and will be back in action on Saturday, September 9th, for their home opener against Laney College at 1 PM.
