The American River College Football program opened a two-game homestand with a dominant 49-10 victory over Laney College.

After falling behind 7-0 to Laney early in the first quarter, the Beavers defense stepped up Laney to 180 yards of total offense (119 yards passing and 61 yards rushing) and forcing three turnovers.  Offensively, Kenneth Lueth began the scoring spree for the Beavers by capping off a 14 play 78 yard drive with a 3 yard touchdown run to tie the score at 7-7.  After a Laney turnover, Joshua Moore would make a gritty 5 yard touchdown run (with the help of his offensive lineman) to give the Beavers a 14-7 lead early in the second quarter.

Both teams would see drives stall before another turnover by Laney in their own territory.  The Beavers needed only one play to take advantage when Kenneth Lueth through a 44 yard bomb to Mikaiah Stephenson for the touchdown and giving the Beavers a 21-7 lead at halftime.

The third quarter would see the Beavers score fourteen straight points as Desmin Hatfield-Rushton would take a short pass from Kenneth Lueth 76 yards for the touchdown and Thonye Charles score on a 15 yard pass from Kenneth Lueth in the corner of the endzone.  Laney would add a field goal lake in the third quarter to cut the Beavers lead to 35-10.

However, the Beavers would scored on a beautiful 32 yard pass from Kenneth Lueth to Robert Freeman to expand the lead to 42-10.  While Joshua Moore powered his way to the endzone on a two yard run to give the Beavers the 49-10 win.

The Beavers will back in action on Saturday, September 16th, for the second half of their two-game homestand as they host Fresno City College at 1 PM.
