Bio

Coach Tyler Young is beginning his second season with American River College as an assistant linebacker coach. After playing two years for ARC at receiver and kick returner, he transferred to Sacramento State where he played receiver, returner and contributed heavily on special teams for the Hornets.

Tyler brings a wide array of knowledge and experience from his 9 year playing career. He was a local product in high school, playing four sports for the Casa Roble Rams. Coach Young was given the 2012 Scholar-Athlete award from the Sacramento Valley Chapter National Football Foundation for his achievements on the field and in the classroom. Following a brief stint out of high school playing rugby for San Diego State University, Young began his college football career at American River. He would go on to be a key contributor at receiver in his sophomore season, 2014, which resulted in a Nor-Cal championship game appearance for the Beavers after posting a 10-2 record. That year Tyler set the single season reception record for the Beaver squad that ranked #4 in the state and #10 nationally.

Young holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Physical Activity, Conditioning and Coaching from California State University Sacramento. He is a certified personal trainer through the National Council on Strength & Fitness and Personal Training Global. Tyler currently works as an operations supervisor at UPS while coaching full time with the ARC Beavers Football Program.

Young plans to progress his coaching career with American River College and eventually move on to the four year level as a graduate assistant for a Division I College Football Program.
