Bio

Coach Michael Lorente joined the Beavers Coaching staff in 2013. With over 20 years of experience at the club, high school, and community college levels, Coach Lorente provides a multitude of services for the Beavers Men’s Basketball program. He serves as Associate Head Coach and leads recruit coordination and much of the day-to-day basketball operations. His on-court duties include team strategy, player development, practice and game management duties, as well as scouting and film management. Since joining Coach Giorgi, Lorente has played a major role in rebuilding the Beavers program, helping the team to four post season appearances, most notably in 2016-17 season where the Beavers earned a trip to the CCCAA NorCal Regional Finals. In his short time at ARC, Coach Mike has helped 12 players earn All-Conference and/or All-State honors and matriculate to the four-year level. Prior to joining the ARC coaching staff, Coach Lorente spent three seasons at Cosumnes River College, where he assisted with recruiting, strength and conditioning, player development and on-floor coaching duties.

In addition to his time at the CCCAA level, Coach Lorente’s resume also includes ten years at the high school level, serving as the Head Coach at Rocklin High School (2010-2012) and as an Assistant Coach at Capital Christian (2003-2007) where he helped lead the Cougars to three Sac Joaquin Section Finals and three CIF State playoff appearances. He also spent time developing many area club teams including YBA, CAL Elite, and Nor Cal Wildcats. Annually, Michael directs the legendary Dimes Classic Men’s Basketball Tournament (2005-current), continues to develop professional players in the off-season, and enjoys coaching at various area youth camps and clinics.

Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Michael played his high school ball at Oakland Christian School, leading the Lancers to three conference titles, two district championships, and two regional final appearances, earning all-conference and all-state honors. Lorente went on to play two years at Olivet College before leaving to play semi-professional basketball. After one journey to California, he decided to stay and begin his coaching career. Returning to school at CSU Sacramento, Michael earned his Bachelor of Science in Recreation Administration and went on to earn a Master of Arts in Kinesiology from Fresno Pacific University, a Single Subject teaching credential in Physical Education and a Master of Arts in Education from Alliant International University. In addition to his responsibilities with the ARC Men’s Basketball program, he serves as an Adjunct Professor of Kinesiology with Los Rios Community College District, and Physical Education Teacher and Department Chair for Fortune Schools.
He currently resides in Sacramento with his wife Andrea and their two children Santino and Valentina.
