Olmedo Transfers to Stanislaus State

ARC goalkeeper Andres Olmedo is transferring to soccer powerhouse Stanislaus State to play in the fall.

Olmedo was a standout keeper for ARC, starting 14 of 18 games in his second season (2015). He posted a goals against average of 1.28, was elected as team captain, and received All-League Honors for the Big 8 Conference. Olmedo, formerly of the Davis Legacy club team, also played with the Sacramento Gold squad in 2016.

The Stanislaus State Warriors men's soccer program has become a mainstay in the CCAA Tournament, appearing in the championship match in 2012 (Champions), 2014 (Finalists), and 2015 (Finalists). The 2015 season was a record-setting campaign that ended with a program best record of 15-4-3. The Warriors set team records in goals scored (55), shutouts (10) and wins (15), on their way to a second consecutive CCAA Tournament final and a second NCAA Tournament appearance.

Warriors head coach Dana Taylor said of Olmedo, "Andres has logged plenty of collegiate minutes in the net and should come in giving us experience and the ability to fight for the number one spot. He is an extremely quick, explosive goalkeeper who is a natural leader. He is a good shot stopper who has good feet and can help us maintain possession of the ball."

Andres, who will be transferring with his AA Degree, is pursuing a degree in Kinesiology.
