Bio

Coach Paul Hansen has served as the head soccer at American River College for 26 seasons, serving as the women’s head coach for twelve seasons, followed by 14 seasons on the men’s side. Coach Hansen received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where he was a four time all-conference soccer player. He later received his Master’s Degree in Physical Education at California State University, Sacramento. Paul has a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) “B” coaching license, and an Advanced National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

In his twelve seasons coaching the women at ARC, the Beavers qualified for the playoffs eleven times, won four conference titles, appeared in four State Final Four tournaments, and claimed one State Championship. Coach Hansen has also had success leading the men’s program over the past 14 seasons, earning eight playoff appearances and two conference championships, compiling a solid overall coaching record of 316-155-77.

In addition to his soccer coaching at ARC, Coach Hansen has 20 years of competitive youth soccer coaching experience in the greater Sacramento Area. Paul has coached for Placer United, San Juan Soccer Club, Capital Athletic Soccer Academy (Boca), and most recently, Sacramento United. Paul also has a great deal of soccer playing experience, having played four years in college and twelve years professionally, nine of which were for the Sacramento Knights professional indoor soccer team.

Coach Hansen brings a great deal of experience, knowledge and passion to his coaching and teaching. He is committed to running a program that emphasizes the importance of commitment, respect and dedication in the pursuit of team and individual goals.
