In their first official match of the season the Beavers traveled to Modesto and earned the shutout versus the perennially tough Pirates. Highlights included strong doubles play by all 3 teams, led by Seppi Capaul and Sean McDaniel (#2) who won their match convincingly by a score of 8-3. In the singles, McDaniel (#4) was again dominant, losing only 1 game. Alex Meliuk (#2) and Kadyn Silva (#3) were not far behind, losing just 2 games apiece in their respective matches. Seppi Capaul, an ITA All-American in 2015, started 2016 off strong with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at #1 and Nick Shirk won a hard fought, physical match at #6, 7-5, 6-3. The Beavers will next travel to Reedley to take on the Tigers on Tuesday, February 5.
