Undefeated Beavers vs Foothill

ARC-7                    Foothill-2

Overall: 5-0         Conference: 3-0

The Beavers stayed undefeated on the season as they beat perennial NorCal rivals, the Foothill Owls, 7-2. ARC got off to a strong start, taking two of the three doubles matches. At #1, Cody Duong and Tam Duong got off to a fast start before the Owls earned the early break back, and evened the score. After giving up their break, the Beaver tandem reset and ripped off 4 straight games to earn the victory 8-3. The Beavers also won at #3 doubles, as Pete Gibson and Neville Cooper played a solid and purposeful match, especially in the big points near the end of the match, to win by the score of 8-4. At #2 doubles Mikey Vizcarra and Eric De Romas went up an early break, only to lose it three games later. Eventually the match went to a tiebreak, with the Foothill team of Greco/Kim winning it by a score of 9-8(5).

With a 2-1 lead going in to the singles, ARC knew that they had to be sharp from the get go. They competed well at every spot, losing only one of the matches at #4, as Neville Cooper lost a hard fought match to the experienced Owl player, Daniel Kim. Highlights for the Beavers included Cody Duong stepping back in to the lineup bravely after having to default to Solano the day before and winning his match 6-2, 6-4, Tam Duong (#2) and Mikey Vizcarra (#3) losing just one and two games respectively at their positions, and Andy Vang (#6) winning his match 6-1, 6-1. It was a great match for the Beavers and they look forward to possibly facing off with the Owls later in the season during the NorCal playoffs. ARC will next travel to Cupertino on March 7th to take on the NorCal #3 team, the De Anza Dons.
