The Beavers opened the dual-match season with a shutout against perennial rival, the Modesto JC Pirates. Highlights for the Beavers included Michael Vizcarra beating MJC #1, Nick Reilley, in a convincing manner, 6-3, 6-1, Paul Bhatia giving up just one game to the consistent MJC #2, Mike Lopez, and Pete Gibson (#4) and Rob Kendall (#5) winning their respective matches without dropping a game. In the doubles, Bhatia/Gibson finished strong, winning the last 3 games, for an 8-5 victory over MJC #1 Lopez/Reilley. At #3 Andrei Anderson and Alexis Lira won their match without losing a game. It was a great start to the dual-match season for the Beavers. They will next play a doubleheader against Fresno City College and Reedley College on Saturday, February 17 in Fresno.
