Men's Tennis Completes Successful Fresno Trip

Over the course of two days, the Beavers competed against community college programs Reedley College and Fresno City College, and the NCAA DII team, Fresno Pacific University. On the first day of the trip, 3/30, ARC beat both community college scores by the score of 9-0. Standout performers for the Beavers included Lenny Lin, who beat FCC #1 Brett Castro 6-0, 6-1, Spencer Hill, who won both singles matches without dropping a game, and Jason Hom, who also won two singles matches by the score of 6-0, 6-0.
On the second day, the Beavers matched up against NCAA DII opponent, the Fresno Pacific University Sunbirds. In the doubles Jack Hall/Lenny Lin lost to the Sunbirds #1 team 6-1. At #2 Spencer Hill/Ravi Nelson won a hard-fought set 6-4. In the NCAA soring format, all three doubles matches count for a total of a single point in the dual team match, so the doubles point came down to the #3 matchup. Both teams held serve all the way through until 5-5. With the Sunbirds serving, the ARC duo of Jason Hom/Shane Timmons got to deuce, meaning they had a break point to in the no-ad scoring format. FPU played an aggressive point with a called poach, and held serve, forcing the Beavers to hold to stay in the match. The next game also reached deuce, and the Sunbirds took the doubles point when Jason Hom's forehand sailed wide. The Beavers competed well in the singles. Spencer Hill lost two close sets at #4 and Ravi Nelson continued his dominant run at #1 with a 6-3, 6-3 win against FPU #1, Ben Cronau.
ARC will look forward to another great challenge when they face off against NCAA DII opponent, Holy Names University on Tuesday, April 4th.
