ARC men's tennis took on NCAA D3 powerhouse, the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs. UCSC has won the D3 national championship 7 times in their storied history, and are perennially one of the best teams in the country at that level. In the doubles, ARC came out slow and found themselves down early at #1 and 2. They were unable to rebound and lost each of the matches 8-1. At #3 doubles Tarang Sharma and Arjun Sivakumar battled hard, and were even half way through the match, but their level dropped slightly as the match neared the end, and they fell 8-4. Despite being down 3-0 entering the singles, the Beavers put in a tremendous effort and imposed their physicality on the Slugs. Sharma (#4) and Spencer Hill (#6) were able to earn 3-set victories at their respective positions. The Beavers will begin conference play at Folsom Lake College on Tuesday, February 27.
