California State Championships

San Diego Mesa College

The American River College men's track & field team capped a fantastic season by finishing 5th at the State Championships. The Beavers were led by 2nd place finishes from several athletes including freshman Conor Wells in the 1500m (3:57.13). The Beavers had 4 athletes finish in the top 10 in the 1500m at State (5th freshman Gonzo Morales-Lomeli – 4:00.75, 7th freshman Dejon Joseph – 4:01.16, and 10th sophomore Anthony Sanchez – 4:02.64). Of those athletes, Conor Wells ran 4:23 in the mile in high school, none of the others ran under 4:34 in the mile in high school. Between those 4 athletes plus Abdul Hamid and Ross Walker, that gave ARC 6 athletes under 4 minutes in the 1500m this year.

Austin Collier placed 2nd in the long jump with a lifetime best jump of 24'1.5". He also placed 6th in the triple jump at 46'6.75". Abdul Hamid finished right behind Donnie in 15:09.76 and placed 6th in the 10k at 31:50.44. Treshon Woods ran his 2nd best time ever, but it was only good enough for 5th in the 400 hurdles in 53.60. And finally the relay teams ran 41.43 to finish 5th and the 4x400 finished 4th in 3:15.81.
