Delta Invitational Recap

Delta Invitational Recap

ARC Men's Water Polo participated in the Delta Invitational Tournament on September 28th and 29th. This was the team's third tournament this season and the Beavers are half-way done with their season. The Beavers finished this tournament 3-1, with a particularly fine game against DVC Vikings.

The first game of the tournament was against Sierra College and the men fell short by 1 goal to the Wolverines. However, the loss does not count toward Conference rankings. It is likely that the Beavers will face off with this team again in the Big 8 Tournament for a Conference Title.

The men also played De Anza and Delta colleges and they beat both teams with ease.

The biggest takeaway from this tournament was a game between the 8-3 Diablo Valley Vikings and the 7-7 ARC Beavers. This game would be a foreshadowing as the Beavers will be meeting them again in Conference for the Beavers' first home game on Wednesday, October 10th.
The game started close and both teams swam hard and ran their respective plays. DVC started with intense drives and a good press defense. Coach Black devised an appropriate defense early on to halt DVC's scoring. Big plays from Michael Burgess, Ian Brady, and Josh Ford allowed the Beavers to take charge and end the game on top 17-15.

This was the Beavers' first time beating the Vikings for the first time in program history. Smiles were abundant, but the men are aware that the Conference game at home against the Vikings is where it will really matter.

Looking ahead, the men have a bye this week and time to train and prepare for potentially the biggest game of Conference versus the Vikings. Come support your Beavers!
